What is the Copa del Rey MAPFRE?
Organised by the Real Club Náutico de Palma, the Copa del Rey MAPFRE reaches its 44th edition in 2026 as one of the most important cruiser regattas in the Mediterranean. For a week, the crews of a broad international fleet compete in the Bay of Palma across several classes: this year’s ORC B division alone is expected to bring together some two dozen boats from around ten nations, reigning world champion included.
It is also a standout fixture in the island’s sporting and social calendar, drawing enthusiasts, spectators and industry professionals from all over Europe every year.

The 44th edition is raced from 1 to 8 August 2026 in the Bay of Palma — and that is one of this regatta’s great attractions: the race area lies within the bay itself, right off the city’s shoreline. With no invitation and no boat, the fleet can be seen from the coast, although how much you catch of each race depends on where the day’s course is set; the higher your vantage point, the better the view.
And if you are lucky enough to get out on the water those days, the sight of the fleet tacking a few metres away is one you will not forget. Just be sure to keep clear of the race areas and follow the organisers’ instructions.

The Copa del Rey does not stay on the water. That week, the port of Palma and everything around it lives one of its most intense spells of the year: crews from half of Europe, the marine industry out in force and an atmosphere that turns every sunset into an extension of the racing.
